B2B Commerce & Marketplace Platform
The operating context
A B2B foodservice equipment commerce environment where product, ordering and marketplace complexity sit behind a simple buyer experience.
Engineering focus
B2B commerce breaks in different places than consumer retail. Buyers are accounts rather than individuals, so pricing, catalogue visibility and approval rules differ per customer. The engineering work sat in the catalogue and ordering layer: modelling a multi-supplier product structure with per-account pricing tiers, keeping specification-heavy listings consistent as suppliers changed them, and orchestrating orders that could split across several suppliers while still presenting the buyer with one coherent transaction.
Why it matters
The hard constraint is that a single ordering error consumes real fulfilment capacity — stock is committed, suppliers are notified, logistics is scheduled. That pushes correctness into the data model rather than the interface: order state has to be explicit, price resolution has to be deterministic and reproducible, and supplier integrations have to fail loudly instead of silently writing bad records.
